Bing site verification

I am having a problem completing the Bing site verification,  http://www.bing.com/webmaster/SubmitSitePage.aspx. Option one is to Place an XML file on your web server, when i tried this and downloaded BingSiteAuth.xml, this opens up Final Cut Express??!

The second option: add a <meta> tag containing the authentication code to the <head> section of your default webpage, seems like the better option, but I am not sure how to do that.

Any suggestions?

Thanks

Re: Bing site verification

I'm questioning the same thing, have you figured it out?

Re: Bing site verification

The XML opens in Final Cut Express because this is the default application on your Mac for opening XML files. You can open it in any other suitable application by dragging it onto that application, or control-clicking the file and using the Open With option in the resulting drop-down. Opening it in TextEdit is a good option, if you have no specific editors. The file probably only needs to be copied to your server, anyway, though I don't know Bing, so can't be sure of that.

Adding a meta tag to a Sandvox generated site is easy enough. Open your Sandvox file in Sandvox and follow the instructions at http://www.karelia.com/sandvox/help/z/C … ction.html

It says "Avenger," but I am just a Sandvox user who has been assigned the title of Avenger here in order to be able to delete spam messages. http://davidneale.eu/
