Problems with audio files

Wow.. I am at the end of my line.

I can not get certain audio files to play on the site I'm uploading to..

The thing that is obvious is that when I go to the file manager for my hosting I see the names of the mp3 files.. (they are all MP3 files)

The ones that are NOT playing on the site are titled "MP3 File"

The ones that are showing up and playing are titled "Audio File"

although they are both audio files...

grrrrrr... I'm reaching the end of my rope here if anyone has any ideas.

it also will not allow me to erase those "files" from my file directory on my host.

Re: Problems with audio files

also noticed that when I publish it is not really sending the file.. it takes way too short of a time.....

the player shows up but when I try to play it it says error on page and the window shows "file not found"

it IS an MP3!?!@?!  I'm looking at it, I'm listening to it etc.

Re: Problems with audio files

Had a similar problem. Tried to upload, but too short a time for upload - knew it didn't. When I went to the published page, got "File not found" error message. Strange thing was that I had uploaded two other files just before this. In any case, a search on the web alerted me to the possible problem ... the name of the file. I changed the name  (used a name this time with no spaces or characters other than alphanumeric) and it worked! Still strange, because the name was in the same format I had uploaded many other files to the same site. In any case, once uploaded, I went back into Sandvox and changed the name in Sandvox back to my original choice so it would correspond with the other files I had in Sandvox for this site.

Note that the name of the file does not affect the name of the link that will show up on the published page. So, you can name the file anything, but keep the name of the link to be what you want. At least this worked for me this time. Next time...?
