I cannot get Sandvox to connect to my Mac Pro (bus.swats.org) running my web server using SFTP. However I can connect using the terminal as shown below:
mule:~ william$ sftp dhyano@bus.swats.org
Password:
Connected to bus.swats.org.
sftp> cd /Library/WebServer/Documents/swats.co
sftp> ls
_Media comments contact-form.html en
favicon.ico fr index.html sandvox_Aqua
sandvox_Gray
sftp> quit
mule:~ william$
I can also connect with Transmit.app using SFTP.
Here is the Host Setup window I am using to connect to bus.swats.org.

Does anyone know what I am doing wrong?
Thanks
William

Sorry; I left out the feedback from Sandvox when trying to connect. It is:
• Contacting bus.swats.org…
• Establishing SFTP connection… Failed
• Received the error message: Cannot connect to host
Thanks again,
William

Have you been able to solve this, William? I see that there is an "en" version of your site. Now, if your place were between south-eastern Spain and Belgium, I'd be tempted to overnight there!
It says "Avenger," but I am just a Sandvox user who has been assigned the title of Avenger here in order to be able to delete spam messages. http://davidneale.eu/

Problem not solved yet. I tried every thing I could think of-- no luck. Sorry macdafydd that we are not located where you need to go.

I've never used SFTP, so don't know the Sandvox procedure for it. Have you tried with FTP, just to see if Sandvox can make the connection that way? Given the files returned by the ls command, I imagine you have tried this with success. If so, then the next question is, how do your Sandvox parameters match up to those used in Transmit? And then, I suppose, can you SFTP successfully to anything through Sandvox?

try hostname as "ftp.bus.swats.co"
use port 7822
why are there 2 names different?
one ends in .co
the other is .org

Yes, If the URL is www.swats.co
Then you would want it setup as..
URL Format: www.swats.co
Hostname: swats.co

I was having no problem connecting to my host until yesterday. I am traveling and am now in a border town in Mexico just a few miles in from the U.S. and using a DSL connection. Can that cause a problem? I've tried SFTP and FTP. Neither work. Above was a mention of port 7822 with ftp. but Sandvox does not allow changing the port. If I chose SFTP it is 22 and if I use FTP it is 21 in the port box.
I've tried changing my host name from www.parrishjones.net to ftp. parrishjones.net when trying to FTP but that seems to change nothing. I really need to solve this. I have a blog on my site and promised to post regularly which I intended at least every other day. With SFTP I get the error, (NSURLErrorDomain Error-1001)

All of my FTP setups show port 21, the default value. Although it is greyed, the setting can be changed. The NSURLErrorDomain Error-1001 seems to indicate a timeout error.
