Going to Macworld Expo in January? (We have free passes available!)
Karelia will be exhibiting! We'll be demonstrating Sandvox (showing off some features from our upcoming new version) and meeting with our users. If you plan on attending Macworld, we hope you will stop by and say hello.
As an Apple Design Award winner, we'll be in booth S-1338 in Moscone South Hall, in one of the Apple Developer Connection stations next to Apple's main booth.
We've made a special arrangement to provide the first 100 of our friends and customers to sign up with a free exhibit hall pass. Just fill out this form. (If you are too late for the free pass, you can still fill out this other form for a discounted entry.)
From time to time, we like to feature exciting software from other independent developers on our website and in our mailings. Hopefully you have seen MacSanta by now, where you can get a discounted price on dozens of applications (including Sandvox) through the end of the year, with daily discounted specials through the 24th of December. MacSanta is a great place to look for some good holiday deals on independently-produced Mac software; it's worth perusing the deals there.
For this mailing, we thought we'd focus on some fantastic Preference Panes — utilities that work right inside System Preferences.
Teleport is a utility that seems almost magical. If you have more than one Mac on your desk, you can control it using just one mouse/keyboard. Just move your mouse off the edge of one computer and now the pointer appears on the other machine. You can even transfer the contents of the clipboard and drag and drop files from one computer to another. This utility is free with donations requested — if you use this, please support independent developers like this! Get Teleport here.
iStat Menus is a handy system-monitoring utility that lives in your menu bar. Use it to monitor your CPU, memory, disks, network, and more. It also has a very nice clock/calendar that is much more useful than the built-in menu clock. This application is also free but the author requests donations to help feed the development of this utility. Get iStat Menus here.
Hazel, from Noodlesoft, works like your personal housekeeper, organizing and cleaning folders based on rules you define. It can also manage your trash and automatically clean up after apps that you uninstall. Use it to keep your Leopard Downloads folder humming with a sense of organization and sanity! Hazel is commercial software, with a 14-day trial period. We've arranged for a special discount for members of our mailing list: use the coupon code "KARELIA" and get 15% off the regular price, through the end of the year. Download Hazel here.
The current version of Sandvox is 1.2.5; it can be downloaded from our home page. We're working on a new version, with loads of great new features; it will be available for beta-testing from our Yahoo! discussion group in a few weeks.
Happy Holidays!
